On Campus Involvement

Being a part of this organization throughout college has been such an enriching experience. Not only did I learn so many things such as time management, organization, and leadership skills, but I was introduced to girls that were in the same major as mine and this gave me access to tutoring and advice on classes and teachers that I should take during my undergraduate career. One of my favorite parts of Delta Zeta is the numerous opportunities to volunteer within the community, and also nationally. Nationally, our philanthropy is speech and hearing and we work with The StarKey Hearing Foundation which travels to third-world countries and in the United States to provide hearing-aids, batteries, after-care supplies, and speech therapy to those in need. In 2015, Delta Zeta pledged to raise $5 million over the next five years for speech and hearing, and to donate that amount to Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Leadership

In the Spring of 2016, I had the honor to serve as Delta Zeta's Secretary. This position is in charge of filing all of the paperwork to national headquarters, recording the minutes at the weekly meetings, taking attendance at all events, receiving excuses if members could not attend said events, and send out weekly reminders. In May of 2016, I was promoted to our Vice President of Programming. During my time serving as the VP of Programs I managed all 17 chairs, scheduled workshops for the members, planned our annual "I Have a Choice Week" (which focuses on raising alcohol awareness on college campuses), organized and utilized the Google Drive that our organization uses, and kept track of all of the members programs and events that they were attending on campus to make sure that they were adequately involved. These opportunities not only taught me a lot about myself but also how to be the best leader. I also refined my interpersonal skills by working with others on common goals and discovered the best solutions to chapter related issues in a timely manner.

During my time in the chapter I also served on various committees that helped plan our philanthropy events. In the Summer of 2016, I attended our National Convention and served on the election and tellers committee helping the members vote on the new National Council for the biennial.
